Mary Pollock Walk To D’Feet ALS Volunteer Award
On May 31, 2003, the Yates family was honoured with the first Mary Pollock
Walk to D'Feet ALS Volunteer Award during the ALS Society of Alberta's Annual General
Meeting luncheon in Calgary. Having worked to make the Walk to D'Feet ALS successful across
Alberta over the past years, Chris, Teddy and Heather Yates were honoured for their active
contribution in the advancement of ALS research and services.
Since 2001, the Yates family have taken their passion for the Walk to D'Feet ALS
across Alberta; from Lethbridge to Didsbury and Medicine Hat to Cold Lake, they have inspired
families affected by ALS through their tireless commitment.
The Mary Pollock Award celebrates exceptional contributions and achievements in developing the
Walk to D'Feet ALS, on behalf of Mary Pollock who died of ALS in 2000. Nationally, the Walk to D'Feet
ALS has raised nearly $2 million since it began.
