Edmonton Walk for ALS 2008

 Welcome to the 8^th Annual Edmonton WALK for ALS 

Since our first Edmonton walk in 2001, team numbers increased yearly for a total of 83 in 2007.  These teams are responsible for the increase in funds raised to $150,000!  Additional WALK locations in Alberta helped raise a total of $325,000 across Alberta.  Sixty percent of funds remain in the province to continue providing programs and services for persons with ALS, with forty percent forwarded for research.  Research contributions nationally are now budgeted at $1.5 million a far cry from the $200.00 in 2001.  These increases are due to your wonderful efforts.  Much is being done and more needs to be done as we work to provide services and find the cause and cure of ALS.

Our 2008 goal is $175,000. with more teams and individuals pledging support to ALS.  Your help assisting us to reach these goals is vital and appreciated.  

It was a bright sunny day last June as our 800 participants enjoyed a 2.5 or 5 km walk around Hawrelak Park. Tim Spelliscy of Global TV was most personable as special guest and M.C., Music provided by the C Jam Big Band filled the air as the walkers proceeded.  Families and friends gathered after the walk for snacks and picnics in the park.  The family atmosphere was warm and caring - one of shared hope and love for those who are living, or have lived with ALS.   

A heartfelt thank you to our volunteer Planning Committee and many returning sponsors, whose long term dedication to our cause is very important. We welcome aboard our new sponsors for 2008 and look forward to their continued support. 

Thank you for participating in the Edmonton WALK for ALS, June 14^th at Hawrelak Park, as we raise funds and awareness to make everyday the best possible for people with ALS.
