SEND YOUR LETTERS NOW!

The most effective way of raising money for the "Walk to D'Feet ALS" is to conduct a letter writing campaign.  Simply draft a "Dear Family and Friends" letter, explaining why you are participating in the event.  Then photocopy the letter and mail it!  You can reach your largest audience by following the four easy steps listed below.

1. WRITE THE LETTER
Your letter comes from the heart!  As one patient wrote, "Someone's going to ask you to donate to something.  It might as well be me.  I can think of NO BETTER CAUSE!!  Please make the ALS Society's mission, your cause to support."  Include a line in your letter asking that donations be mailed directly to you.  We want to insure that you and your team get proper credit for all donations.  Ask that checks be made payable to the ALS Society of Alberta.

2. DUPLICATE THE LETTER
Photocopy your letter.  Sign each letter individually, perhaps with a personal note like "Thank you in advance for your support."

3. SEND THE LETTER
Look over your holiday card list.  Mail (or e-mail) to your family and extended family, friends, neighbours, business associates and vendors, and clubs or organizations that you and your family are involved with.

4. COLLECT YOUR SPONSOR DOLLARS
It will be exciting to get the mail when sponsorships start arriving.  You will be surprised how quickly it all adds up!
· If you send fundraising letters (and e-mails), generally you can raise 5 to 10 times more money than people who don't send letters.  The average walker raises $100 in a walkathon.  The average letter writer raises $500 to $1,000 and some raise much more!  Individual walkers who raise $100 or more will receive a Walk to D' Feet ALS Ball Cap
· When writing a fundraising letter, you should always give people the option of walking with you as a member of your team, in addition to just making a contribution.
· Discuss and then divide up which people/places various members of your team might target for sponsorship (co-workers, neighbours, etc.)
WE WILL PAY FOR YOUR POSTAGE! HERE'S HOW!

Write and sign your letter, stuff and address your envelopes to the individuals on your list.  Put all your request letters in a big envelope and mail it to the nearest ALS office.

When we receive your envelope, we will stamp and send them out…it's that easy!
