Alberta honours als awareness month
June 1 marks the beginning of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) Awareness Month across Canada. Throughout June, the ALS Society of Alberta will celebrate the lives and stories within the ALS community, by focusing on the equipment and care that make each day the best possible day for those living with and affected by the disease.
The Society will also host 10 Walk to End ALS events across the province, with funds raised allocated to client support services and national ALS research. In hopes of spreading further awareness, the cities of Cold Lake, Camrose, Edmonton, Hinton, Grande Prairie and Fort McMurray have all proclaimed June as ALS awareness month.
Albertans can get involved with ALS Awareness Month by registering for one of the 10 Walk to End ALS events occurring this summer, or by engaging with others online using the hashtag #MakingItPossible and #ALSAB, or by utilizing some of the social media tools below.
