Alberta ALS Research Network Student Research Travel Award Overview

The Alberta ALS Research Network (AARN) is pleased to announce a Student Research Travel Award,
supporting outstanding research trainees in presenting their work at national or international ALS
conferences. This award will provide financial assistance for travel, accommodation, and conference
registration for a student who has been accepted to present a poster or oral presentation related to ALS
research

AARN Student Research Travel Award

Eligibility

• Be a current undergraduate, graduate, or postdoctoral trainee actively involved in ALS research at an Alberta University.
• Have an accepted abstract for presentation (poster or oral) at a recognized ALS research conference.
• Be the first author or primary presenter on the accepted work.
• Limit of one award per student, per year.
• May not be combined with any other travel award. Additional funding through lab/supervisor is
permitted.

Award Details

• Amount: Up to $3,000 to cover travel-related expenses.
• Eligible Expenses: Airfare, accommodation, ground transportation, and conference registration.
• Number of Awards: Number of students selected will be based on presentation merit and availability of allotted funds.
• Selection Criteria: Scientific merit of the research, relevance to ALS, and potential impact on the applicant’s professional development.

Application Instructions

To apply, please submit the following materials as a single PDF file to AARN Project Manager Kelsie Snow at
kelsie@alsab.ca.

1. Cover Letter (max 1 page) describing your research, its relevance to ALS, and how attending the
conference will benefit your academic and professional development.
2. Abstract accepted for presentation (include proof of acceptance).
3. Short CV (maximum 1 page).
4. Letter of support (maximum 1 page) from your research supervisor confirming your role in the project
and approval to travel
