Alberta ALS Research Network Fund Matching Awards
The Alberta ALS Research Network (AARN) is committed to advancing research and improving care for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Through strategic investment in fundamental, translational and clinical research, AARN aims to position Alberta-based ALS researchers as global leaders by fostering innovation and collaboration to accelerate discoveries and enhance patient outcomes.

The AARN Fund Matching Awards will support ALS researchers applying for large-scale grants that require matching funds.
Total value and number of awards will be determined based on AARN budget, quality of applications, and alignment with AARN mission.

AARN Research Trainee Awards
The AARN Research Trainee Awards will support promising trainees to pursue innovative ALS research. Awards
will be granted in partnership with Mitacs, a Canadian NFP organization that has been supporting research and
innovation for more than 25 years, through Mitacs’ Accelerate program. Accelerate is a fund-matching program
aimed at cultivating and encouraging Canadian student and post-doctoral researchers.
This award is open to Alberta-based undergraduate and graduate students and postdoctoral fellows working on
ALS research under the supervision of an Alberta-based researcher.

AARN Student Research Travel Award
The Alberta ALS Research Network (AARN) is pleased to announce a Student Research Travel Award,
supporting outstanding research trainees in presenting their work at national or international ALS
conferences. This award will provide financial assistance for travel, accommodation, and conference
registration for a student who has been accepted to present a poster or oral presentation related to ALS
research.
